I offer engaging presentations for children and adults that feature science, writing, and lots of interactive FUN!
With both in-person and virtual visit options, every presentation is engaging, immersive, and tailored to specific grade levels. And every talk leaves plenty of time for questions and answers!
My school presentations are designed for grades K-8.
Presentations for Upper Elementary/Middle School:
Science Meets Story:
I describe my years as a research scientist – from working with ultra-clean lab mice to designing experiments for astronauts to perform on the International Space Station – how science and story fit together and inspire students to pursue their interests…even if they seem unrelated.
- Audience Size: Assembly or classroom.
- 45-60 minutes, Ages 10 and up
Writing Ghost Stories:
I talk about the inspiration behind my ghost story – “White Thing” – featured in The Haunted States of America Anthology and walk students through the basic steps of outlining their own spooky story. Includes readings, as requested.

Presentations for Lower Elementary
Trunk Goes Thunk! and the Wide, Wonderful World
I read my picture book – Trunk Goes Thunk! A Woodland Tale of Opposites – and talk about opposites, forests, and using all five senses to explore our wide and wonderful world. Filled with hands-on activities and STEM/language arts tie-ins.
- Audience Size: Assembly or classroom
- 30 minutes, Ages 5-7
Stir Up Some Stew!
This presentation is all about interactive fun and…math?! I’ll read my latest picture book, Backyard Stew, and introduce age-appropriate math concepts and following instructions so students “mix up” a unique recipe that changes with each visit! Includes readings.
- Audience Size: Assembly or classroom
- 30-45 minutes, Ages 6 and up
Q&A Sessions
Q & A for groups who have read one or more of my books
- Audience Size: Classroom-size group
- 20-30 minutes, any age
Options
- I offer both virtual and in-person visits!
- Half-day visits, up to three presentations of one hour each plus author lunch.
- Single session visits, one presentation, up to an hour.
- Full day visits available upon request.
- Author lunch: schools can plan a casual lunch with a small group of students, such as a book group or writing club.

Rates for the 2026-27 School Year
- Full day: $800, includes 6 presentations, up to 45 minutes each.
- Half day: $500, includes 3 presentations, up to 45 minutes each.
- Single presentation: $300, up to 45 minutes.
- Virtual Visit: $150, up to 45 minutes, one presentation
Please note: For travel outside of the North Alabama area, travel expenses (transportation, lodging, etc.) will be added to the above fees. Please contact me for more details.
