March has roared in like a lion…but a lion carrying so much fun! Some of the best fun I’ve had in the last few months. It was a joy and honor to be invited to speak to multiple classrooms in and around my hometown for Read Across America week.
The week began with the cover reveal of my upcoming picture book, Trunk Goes Thunk!, on March 3, which is World Wildlife Day! This lovely book is packed with animals, opposites, and is sure to become a bedtime favorite as well as a go-to for early education professionals. Click here to enjoy the video created by the amazing Bonnie Kelso and posted by my publisher, Gnome Road Publishing. ๐
Here it is…

Isn’t it GORGEOUS?!! The illustrations and design work of Chantelle and Burgen Thorne have blown me away! I cannot wait for you to see some of the interior spreads. ๐
Read Across America
I’ve always loved Read Across America Week, with its costumes, book fairs, and guest readers. This year was pure joy as I visited three different schools to read to first grade through fifth grade…and give them sneak peeks of my upcoming books. I was also invited to give my first official author visit presentation!
Talking about the intersection of science and story – asking clear questions, organizing your thoughts, slowing down to pay close attention (observation) – is one of my passions. We talked about books, astronauts, bacteria, and more! And the kids…they are truly the best audience. ๐

Are you an educator or librarian interested in booking an author visit for the 2024-25 school year? You can find a list of my presentations and fees on my Events page. Then shoot me a message HERE! I’d love to connect with you!
Rocket City Reading Festival
To cap off this amazing week, the Orion Amphitheater in my hometown is hosting its first ever Rocket City Reading Festival, featuring local authors, vendors, publishers, library resources, and more. It will be a test run for more book festivals and signings that I’m looking forward to in the fall! And I’m looking forward to connecting with readers, meeting other authors, and promoting science and reading. More pictures to come after the event, but here’s the flyer in case you can make it!

My local indie bookstore, Snail on the Wall, started a pre-order campaign for Trunk Goes Thunk! that includes a signed copy when the book releases on September 10! Follow the link below to pre-order your signed copy TODAY!
